The new skills Assure identifer makes it easier to recognise providers that offer training subsidised by the Queensland Government to students who meet eligibility requirements. 

By choosing a subsidised course through a Skills Assure supplier, you can gain skills that are valued by industry and will help you get a job once your are finished your studies or you may employment upon enrolment. This is due to the mandatory practical component of the course where students seek a volunteer placement (if not already employed in the industry) which can lead to employment. For example; Early childhood education and care settings, Disability support organisations, Schools seeking teacher-aides and allith health organisations looking for assistants.

Financial support for apprentices 

When you train in a priority occupation you may be eligible for an incentive to support you to complete your apprenticeship and offset the cost of living.

Financial support for employers

Priority Wage Subsidy

The Priority Wage Subsidy is a wage subsidy for employers of Australian Apprentices training towards an occupation listed on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List at a Certificate level III or above. You can use the Priority List Explorer to see which occupations and qualifications qualify for support.

You may be eligible to receive:

  • 10% of your apprentices wages paid to you for the first 24 months (up to $1500 per quarter)
  • 5% of your apprentices wages paid to you for the third 12 month period (up to $750 per quarter)

Certificate 3 Guarantee

The Certificate 3 Guarantee provides a government subsidy to allow eligible Queenslanders to obtain their first post-school certificate III level qualification.

Certificate lll C3G Funding eligibility

  • be a Queensland resident
  • be aged 15 years or over, and no longer at school (with the exception of VET in Schools students)
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency
  • not hold a certificate III level or higher qualification (not including qualifications completed at school and foundations skills training)
  • not be enrolled in another qualification (not including foundations skills training).

Higher Level Skills​

The Higher Level Skills program provides a government subsidy to help individuals gain the higher level skills and qualifications required to secure employment or career advancement in a priority industry.

Diploma (HLS) Funding eligibility

  • be a Queensland resident
  • be aged 15 years or over, and no longer at school
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian
  • entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency

CHC30121 Certificate lll in early childhood education & care

Apprenticeship and C3G

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. They support children’s wellbeing, and development in the context of an approved learning framework. Educators use a range of well-developed skills and knowledge and must apply discretion and judgment to the application of these when carrying out their work in the context of established policies and procedures. They may work independently or under the guidance of others, though in some contexts that guidance may not be on-site. Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens. Under the Education and Care Services National Law (2011) the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) publishes lists of approved early childhood education and care qualifications and information regarding regulatory requirements here: https://www.acecqa.gov.au/qualifications/requirements/children-preschool-age-or-under

To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 160 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.

CHC50121 Diploma of early childhood education & care

Apprenticeship and HLS

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework and for maintaining compliance in other areas of service operations. They use specialised knowledge and analyse and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other educators.

Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens.

To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. CHC30221 Certificate lll in School Based Education Support 

C3G

This qualification reflects the role of workers who assist teachers and support student learning in a range of classroom settings. They complete general administrative as well as operational tasks to support students with learning under the guidance of a teacher or other educational professional. Work requires use of discretion and judgement within the boundaries of established policies and procedures. 

Education support workers work mainly with students in classroom settings in primary or secondary schools, as defined by State/Territory legislation. To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 100 hours of work in a classroom environment catering to primary or secondary school students, within at least one school in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. CHC33021 Certificate lll in individual support (Disability)

Apprenticeship and C3G

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation.

Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Combined disability worker screening and blue card application

HLT33021 Certificate lll in Allied Health Assistance

Apprenticeship and C3G

This qualification reflects the role of a new worker wanting to become an Allied Health Assistant and gain entry to the aged care, disability and other health sectors. They may provide assistance, under the delegation and supervision of Allied Health Professionals (AHP).

Supervision may be direct, indirect or remote, according to the individual Allied Health Assistant’s scope of practice and experience.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of clinical placement as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
